Arsene Wenger looking to step up his pursuit of another Frenchman

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is likely to finish of signing a player early into the summer transfer window who he tried to sign in January.

Toulouse defensive midfielder Etienne Capou was a target for Wenger last month but with the late addition of Nacho Monreal from Malaga Wenger was unable to tie up the deal before the deadline.

Capou has regularly featured for his club Toulouse since 2007 and has notched up over 150 appearances for the Ligue 1 club.

As Arsenal’s defensives problems continue to be surfaced Wenger will look to tie up this deal early to ensure he can work on his team’s progression and Capou would be a suitable replacement for Alex Song who has yet to be directly replaced since leaving last summer.

Capou has recently impressed on the international stage and last year broke into the national side, he has played four times for France and in September he scored his first international goal for his country.

Signing this young Frenchman would allow Wenger to gain an extra midfielder for the next season and at the same time use as cover at centre back in case of any injuries, suspensions or dip in form.
