Loan move an option for Robinson

Once an England international, goalkeeper Paul Robinson is now struggling to get a game at Blackburn Rovers.
According to Sky Sports, the Lancashire club are ready to listen to offers to take the former Tottenham stopper on loan after he lost his first-team place to youngster Jake Kean. Robinson had played regularly throughout the first half of the season, but Kean, who turns 22 tomorrow, has managed to oust him from the side and make the position his own.
Starting his senior career at Leeds United in 1998, Robinson quickly began to make a name for himself and his performances earned him a call-up to the England under-21 side, for whom he featured alongside other Three Lions’ youngsters before breaking through into the senior team.
Robinson became Leeds’ number one in 2002 and has played regularly every season since then. He moved to Tottenham in 2004, where his excellent form saw him become England’s first choice goalkeeper at the expense of David James. Robinson won the only trophy of his career so far as Spurs defeated Chelsea in the 2008 League Cup final, but he was sold to Blackburn following the end of that year’s Premier League campaign.
Rovers paid £3.5 million to sign Robinson, who has produced some top class performances for the club during his time there. However, now 33 years old, the goalkeeper may seek regular playing time somewhere else if he can’t get it at Ewood Park.
