Balotelli arrives at his boyhood club - AC Milan

The enigma that is Mario Balotelli has left Manchester City for the club he supported as a boy – AC Milan. City have made a £5 million pound loss on the striker (they sold him for £19 million and bought him for £24 million according to BBC Sport), who has failed to live up to the heights he hit last season, scoring only three goals so far in his 20 appearances. He is arguably (and I'm sure he'd agree) far too talented though, to be warming the City bench for the rest of the season. Perhaps both sides would have benefited more from a loan deal, but that's neither here nor there.

What's for sure is that AC Milan sure do like their hyped-up, controversial strikers. They had Ibrahimovic (before his move to big-spending PSG), and they've still got Robinho, another ex-City player. Having lost Pato recently, and obviously Ibrahimovic before him, Milan must've felt the need to fill the gap... and possibly irritate rivals Internazionale at the same time. You could ask if Milan would've been safer going for a less volatile striker. You could ask if Balotelli should've stayed and fought for his place at City. You could ask if Balotelli will hit his stride in the Serie A. But you know what he'll be asking. 'Why always me?' Well, Mario, why not?
