Mignolet is targeted by Premier League big guns

Now Simon Mignolet is a perfectly decent Premier League keeper. He has put in some good performances for an uninspiring Sunderland side and, at 24, perhaps has the potential to one day move on to bigger and better things.
However according to The Sun the Belgian has enjoyed “12 months of superb form” and is now being targeted by both Manchester United and Arsenal.
Now if fans of these two sides aren’t happy with David De Gea and Wojciech Szczęsny then they’re going to be even less amused by the signing of an older, less gifted keeper who certainly won’t be pulling off the kind of saves De Gea did to keep Real Madrid at bay last week.
But anyway, Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger are apparently both keeping tabs on Mignolet as they consider a summer goalkeeping switch around. Wenger is supposedly inspired by the Sunderland stopper’s impressive performance against Arsenal at the Stadium of Light earlier in the month whilst Fergie, well we can only assume he is a big fan of the Sunderland fans chant of ‘A-Mignolet, A-Mignolet, A-Mignolet’ to the tune of ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’
Oddly enough the story contains no quotes from anyone involved or even a suggested value for the keeper. Oh, and the headline is ‘we’ll have Sim of that’ - because his name’s Simon, see? So make of it what you will.
In the meantime we’ll just file it under ‘garbage’.
