    A-League tempting for Italian defender

After seeing his former Juventus team-mate flourish Down Under, Nicola Legrottaglie could be set to make the same journey.

Alessandro Del Piero signed for Australian side Sydney FC in September after 19 years in Turin.  The Italian striker has scored 11 goals in 16 games for the club and, according to Sky Sports, his success may persuade his compatriot to move to the A-League.

Legrottaglie is a former Italy international, having represented his country 16 times.  He is currently playing his club football for Catania, after an injury-plagued six-month spell with AC Milan as they won the Scudetto in 2011.  The Sicilian side are flying high in Serie A and are on course for their best ever league finish, with a European place not out of the question.

Whilst Catania are targeting Europa League football for next season, Legrottaglie is open to the possibility of a move abroad.  The defender has a wealth of top level experience under his belt and would surely be a welcome addition to any A-League backline.

At 36 years of age, Legrottaglie may be ready for the final chapter of his career.  Whether that lies in Italy, Australia or elsewhere is yet to be seen.
