    Suso going nowhere

After rumours of a loan move to Wigan, Liverpool midfielder Suso ended up staying at Anfield.

The Spanish playmaker would have been linking up with compatriot Roberto Martinez had he joined the Latics, but, according to Sky Sports, heading to the DW Stadium was not what Suso wanted.

Having joined the Reds in 2010, it wasn’t until this season that he made his senior debut for the side.  Rafael Benitez convinced him to make the move to England during his time in charge at Liverpool, with Suso ultimately deciding to leave his hometown club Cadiz.

Despite being only 19 years of age, Suso has represented his country at under-21 level and started every game as part of the Spain under-19 squad that won the 2012 European Championship in Estonia.  As La Roja continue to dominate international football, the teenager is considered to be one of the next generation to shine on the world stage.

Recently signing a new contract at Anfield, Suso is highly regarded by manager Brendan Rodgers and many people believe that he has a bright future in the game.  Currently remaining on the fringes of the Reds’ first team, however, a temporary stint at Wigan would undoubtedly have allowed him more playing time.

Liverpool fans may be happy to see him stay, but could Suso have benefited more from a loan move?
