Mowbray may offer Dyer a North East return

Kieron Dyer’s career has been hampered by injuries, but the former England midfielder may be given another chance in the Championship.

The 34-year-old was released by QPR earlier this month, three days after scoring his only goal for the club.  Despite it being an injury time equaliser to keep his side in the FA Cup, Hoops manager Harry Redknapp stated that Dyer wasn’t in his plans and the player was allowed to leave the club.

After his release, he returned to his hometown to link up with Ipswich Town, where he spent the first three years of his senior career after progressing through their academy.  However, despite training with the Tractor Boys to maintain fitness, it is another Championship club who are considering offering Dyer a contract.

According to Sky Sports, Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray could be willing to take the former Newcastle United midfielder to the Riverside.  Confirming he had held talks with the player, the Boro boss said that he was impressed by what he has seen of Dyer so far this season.

If a deal can be agreed between both parties, could Dyer help Middlesbrough push on in their bid for promotion back to the Premier League?
