Big Sam looks at left-back solution

According to the Daily Mail, West Ham are looking at a Cameroonian defender currently competing in Ligue 1.

Henri Bedimo plays for Montpellier and a bid of £1.75 million from the Hammers is believed to have been rejected by the French club. However, the 28-year-old, who can also play in midfield, could still be the answer to the east London side’s problems at left-back.

Sam Allardyce does have two players who naturally play in the position but both are currently ruled out.  George McCartney, who has struggled with a knee injury, has been first choice when fit, whilst youngster Daniel Potts has recently come into the side.  Potts, an England under-19 international, had been gaining some first team experience in the last month before being taken to hospital towards the end of the Hammer’s last Premier League game after a clash of heads with Arsenal’s Bacary Sagna.

Bedimo has spent his entire senior career in France, featuring regularly for Montpellier as they won the first league title in their history in 2011.  He also has 23 caps for Cameroon after making his debut for his country in 2009.

Having already bolstered their attack in the January transfer window, will Allardyce make a second offer for Bedimo in order to shore up West Ham’s defence?
