Is Odemwingie heading for Hawthorns exit?

Peter Odemwinge has handed in a transfer request at West Brom, but where does he want to move to?

The Baggies turned down the striker’s written request immediately and released a statement expressing their disappointment with his decision.  A Nigerian international, Odemwingie has become an integral part of the setup at the Hawthorns, scoring 31 goals in 82 appearances for the club.  Whenever West Brom need a match-winner, more often than not it is him who has managed to find the net.

Odemwingie has previously played for Lille and competed in the Champions League during his time with the French club.  A big money move to Lokomotiv Moscow would follow, where he enjoyed a similarly successful spell in terms of goal-scoring.  West Brom, however, are now the team the striker has scored the most for, so it may come as no surprise that the Baggies want to keep their fruitful partnership with him going.

QPR made a bid for Odemwingie earlier this month, a move which the player was believed to have been interested in.  The offer from the West London club, though, was rejected in a similar fashion to the 31-year-old’s recent plea to leave.

West Brom have been one of the surprise packages of this season so far, with an impressive start seeing them push for a European place.  The Hoops, on the other hand, remain bottom of the Premier League, despite a brief resurgence under Harry Redknapp.

It is to be wondered, therefore, where does Odemwingie want to go and what are his motives?
