Hughton looks to pull off major coup

Comprised almost entirely of British and Irish players who have gradually made their way through the divisions, Norwich City’s squad could be about to acquire one of Europe’s hottest prospects.
According to Sky Sports, manager Chris Hughton may be planning an ambitious bid for Sporting Lisbon’s Ricky van Wolfswinkel. The Canaries chief is believed to be frustrated with failed attempts to land Celtic’s Gary Hooper and Swansea’s Danny Graham, but remains determined to resolve his side’s deficiencies up front.
Van Wolfswinkel, who turns 24 on Sunday, found the net an impressive 39 times in 84 games for FC Utrecht in his homeland before making the move to Portugal. The Dutch striker has an incredible scoring record of a goal every other game in the Primeira Liga, whilst his exploits in both of the Portuguese cups and the Europa League mean his overall record for Sporting Lisbon is even better.
Currently with one cap to his name for the Netherlands, van Wolfswinkel will be looking to earn more by making an impression in one of Europe’s top leagues.
The Premier League definitely comes under that category and, with other English clubs previously linked with the striker, perhaps now is the time for the Dutchman to test himself against the best.
