Lescott in for the long haul

Manchester City’s defender Jolean Lescott has expressed a desire to sign a new long-term contract and commit his future to the club.  This comes despite Lescott being overlooked by Roberto Mancini against Real Madrid and Liverpool.

The 30-year-old centre back who City signed from Everton in 2009 has not been a first team regular this season will hope that his goal against Arsenal last Sunday could prompt manager Roberto Mancini to start including him in more first team squads.

Although Lescott is disappointed to have missed out on playing against Real Madrid and Liverpool, he has made it clear that playing for Manchester City gives him the opportunity of a lifetime, to play in the Champions League.

Despite what Lescott might want, Manchester City might see the 30-year-old as easily replaceable with the mega bucks they spend so no new deal is guaranteed.
