Brendan Rodgers has today told Sky Sports that he believes the human soul of Liverpool FC Jamie Carragher can prolong his career further than the end of the season.

Carragher has reportedly been mulling over the thought of retirement after a huge dip in form and spells away from the first team last season. The exclusion of Liverpool's soul has seen some very dispirited performances in recent seasons.

And there are concerns that Liverpool may have to be admitted to casualty after the heartbeat of the side, Steven Gerrard, has also been in decline in recent years.

There is a feeling here that Rodgers is letting his heart rule over his head...
