Allardyce comes to his senses

One thing Sam Allardyce cannot always be said to have, is a lot of sense. After all, this is the man who once said everyone would love him if his name was Sam "Allardicio", the man who once said "I could manage Real Madrid and Inter Milan easily'.
However, despite his rather scatter-gun approach to transfers this summer at West Ham, the Northerner appears to have hit a sweet spot. Having hit the jackpot in bringing in Andy Carroll, talkSPORT suggests Allardyce has had a moment of clarity and is turning down the chance to bring in Arsenal "legend" Mikael Silvestre and former Portsmouth player Anthony Vanden Borre, who is most famous for getting a red card in his time at Fratton Park only for SKY's Chris Kamara to miss it, on free transfers.
