Dutch young player of the year heading for ... Sunderland?

Reports have today surfaced that Martin O' Neill's Sunderland have joined the chase alongside Chelsea, Newcastle and Manchester City for the signature of highly rated teenager Adam Maher.

Maher today has the world at his feet and has been presented with the bogey prize of mid-table mediocrity if his, presumably, preferred choices fall through.

No matter where Maher seems to go he is being stalked by Premier League scouts, who were also at the scene as Maher produced a fine display during Holland Under-21's 4-1 win over Austria.

Maher is hoping the situation doesn't escalate further as otherwise the teenager will start discovering Premier League scouts around his home, in his car and maybe even in the cupboard under his stairs.
