UEFA are gonna get tough

The warning has been coming from inside UEFA for some time and now D-Day looks like it is finally arriving.
After seeing Portsmouth go into administration two seasons ago, a club that once had a shot at the Europa League, Michel Platini and UEFA have had laws passed that states, a club can only spend what they generate themselves. These bans aren’t to be installed until the 2014 season.
These laws that will be put in place and affect those who want to enter the Champions League and Europa League will create a level and fair playing field for everyone as the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City won’t be able to dig into the bottomless pits that they seem to have.
Looking at the busy activity in the transfer window it looks like team’s are keen to get their superstars now before ensuring their books are balanced ready for when the laws are put into place.
Although the laws aren’t set in stone yet UEFA have decided to temporarily withhold the prize money gathered by 23 different clubs. The clubs affected with the financial investigations are Athletico Madrid, Malaga, Fenerbahce and Sporting Lisbon as well as many others. There are some big clubs in European football who face not being able to enter the prestigious club competitions until they can prove that the club can continue on revenue generated by the club and not by the owner’s wealth alone.
