      Has Bent still got it?

Darren Bent’s international career looks as though it may come to a catastrophic end. The Aston Villa forward looks set to miss his fourth successive major tournament if he doesn’t start banging the goals in for his club team at Villa Park.

Darren Bent is determined to make himself “impossible to ignore”. Bent had a very quiet summer and although he has had a few injuries of late he didn’t regularly find the net as he has done in previous seasons for any of the clubs he has played at.

Injury to his ankle forced him to sit and watch the Euro 2012 either on his sofa or down the pub. This has then lead to him missing out in playing the first two World Cup qualifiers. Even though he has missed out through injury of late Bent who will be 30 by the time Rio 2014 is here, knows that he isn’t getting any younger and that Rio could be his last chance to play in the elite of International football.

There is no question that when Darren Bent is on form he can score plenty of goals as he is a natural finisher who plays on the last line of defence. He demonstrated that in the qualifying stages of Euro 2012 scoring 3 goals in 4 matches. However his nightmare came at Wigan, when he picked up that serious ankle injury.

Although he knows his chances are slim, Bent knows that with hard work and if he can regain his form he is in with a chance of returning to the plans of Roy Hodgson and in the squad for Rio.

All Bent can hope for is that Hodgson is watching him and hasn’t forgotten about, if he finds some form he can be affective for both England and Aston Villa.
