City waste no time in getting striker

With the name of Stevan Jovetic still fresh in the memory of a website not too far from here, the Montenegrin is in the news once more as Manchester City have been reported to be close to agreeing a deal for the striker ahead of next summer.

They say the early bird catches the worm and Roberto Mancini, with speed resembling Michael Schumacher in his prime, has followed that logic by jumping at a move for Jovetic in due haste, with Talksport reporting that City are on the verge of agreeing a pre-contract deal.

Chelsea were linked with the 22 year old over the summer with a figure of £25 million being banded about, but Fiorentina rejected all advances and Sky Italia reported that Jovetic was to remain in Florence for another 12 months.

The striker hit 14 goals in 27 games for La Viola in Serie A last term and is a hotly chased striker in Europe, but with City already doing business with Fiorentina over defender Matija Nastasic, it appears City have gone straight back in with a deal to the tune of £24 million.
