      Blackpool Looking to Heskey

Blackpool boss is turning his attentions to the ex Liverpool striker.

Now, Emile Heskey has had his critics over his career. At Leicester, he was seen as the next big thing. A big, strong centre forward who can bully his way to the top. Unfortunately, this bully went down like a sack of spuds every time he was touched.

I do feel a little silly calling him a striker. Forward might be more fitting for a player who never really carried the conviction of a striker. His fans may say he was a different kind of forward. I would agree. He was the kind that didn't score goals.

The fact that Heskey made over 60 appearances for England alarms me. I do remember he had two good games for the 3 Lions though. So good on him.

His potential was what made Liverpool Stump up £11 million pounds for him in 2000. At the time of the signing, Liverpool Manager, Gerard Houllier said “at his age he is not the finished product.” Ian Holloway could say the same thing now...

Holloway may be thinking that Heskey, who was released by Aston Villa at the end of last season, would do a job like Kevin Phillips did for him. But unless that job is folding like a deck of cards every time a defender comes near him I don't think he will have the same impact.

Okay, maybe I am being al little harsh on the lad. But it is fair to say that he hasn't quite hit the heights of what his career promised. If truth be told he should have dropped down to the Championship a few season's ago. I can not see what he did at the Villa in the few years he was there.

But Holloway could be just the man to get a little bit more out of him. And if it doesn't work out for Heskey, there is always League one.
