Ferguson's hard work pays off in striker swoop

Manchester United have beaten their neighbours City to the signing of a striker...not that one either.

The Daily Mirror reports that the Old Trafford club have beaten City to the signing of Chilean hot-shot, youngster Angelo Henriquez.

Despite a reported late bid from the Etihad outfit, Sir Alex Ferguson has secured the signature of the youngster after putting in months of hard work to ensure he signs.

The player flew into Manchester for a medical at Old Trafford and turned down the chance to visit City according to the paper as his heart was set on joining the red half of Manchester.

Ferguson had first spotted the striker and has courted him for years, even going as far to have the Chilean visit United in his early teens, eventually securing a deal two months ago that managed to stay in place despite the interest from the blue half of the city.

The 18-year-old will join United from Universidad de Chile where he has scored 11 goals in 17 games since breaking into the first team in 2011.
