Lille keen to keep hold of Newcastle target

Lille have expressed their desire to keep hold of Newcastle United target Mathieu Debuchy, unless their valuation is met and a replacement secured

The right-back enjoyed a successful Euro 2012 campaign with France that has seen interest in him rise considerably.

Chelsea and Inter Milan are also believed to be keen on the 26-year-old and Les Dogues insists they won’t allow the defender to leave on the cheap.

"For a player to leave, there are two conditions which have to be met," sporting director Frederic Paquet said.

"First, we need to have a replacement. Then we will see if the offer lives up to what we expect.

"Mathieu clearly has no substitute, although we are looking. We have heard that he wants to leave, but as we speak there is no replacement.

"We have received an offer, but it was not what we are looking for."
