£15 million pounds for Allen – Crazy

A reported fee of £15 million pounds for Swansea City midfielder, Joe Allen, just shows how some people never learn from their mistakes. Last season, Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson, as well as Stuart Downing, arrived at Anfield, full of hope and raising expectations of Liverpool supporters only to prove the pre season excitement a false dawn.

Sure, the Welsh youngster has potential. But £15 million pounds for a player who had a decent first season in England's top league is surely far too much? I understand that the release clause (isn't that just a 'for sale at this price' tag?) in Allen's contract is £15 million pounds but do Liverpool really need another central midfielder? Alberto Aquilani is a better player than Allen and is already a Liverpool player.

Would you replace your High Definition Sony Plasma for a relativity new to market plasma, that only one shop stocks and a few magazines have written decent reviews about? Yes? You are crazy, my misguided friend.

Liverpool already have a ton of players in the midfield position so why buy someone who could easily turn into another Jordan Henderson? Buying potential is one thing but blindly paying way over the odds is another. Do the smaller clubs only have to nurture a player to have one decent season in the premiership to cash in? Is this a form of business that smaller clubs can entertain? Infact many clubs existence depends on this doesn't it?

Let's not forget this written agreement that Rogers's signed stating he will not sign any Swansea players as part of his move from the Liberty Stadium to Anfield for 12 months. However, this agreement is void if the Swans accept any bid for any Swansea player from another club. Great deal that is. I guess Swansea used a Liverpool based Lawyer to draw this agreement up.

Have Liverpool learnt nothing from last season? No one will pay anything near what Liverpool paid for Adam, Henderson, Downing and Carroll. Liverpool have to make those players realise their performances last season were nothing sort of atrocious. A combined fee of £79 million pounds? And now £15 million for Allen?

      Give me a break.
