Rio to turn his back on England

After the race row over John Terry's comments to his brother, Anton, Rio looks set to end his international career; and who can blame him.
It is becoming increasing difficult to see who the victim is in football. Is it the person who is racially abused by an opponent? Is it someone who has to deal with the humiliation of being betrayed by a team mate and best friend? Or is it, simply, whoever goes up against John Terry?
Let's be frank, no amount of Roy Hodgson's 'It is purely a footballing decision', fooled anyone. The new England manager left Rio Ferdinand out of England's Euro 2012 squad to keep matters under control in the dressing rooms of Poland and Ukraine. No one was really buying into what Roy was selling.
But to be left out of, what would have been, his last major international tournament was an injustice and now Rio looks set to end his international career. It's a sad end to his international career. Over the last decade, Rio has been our most 'European' type defender but will forever remember the last shattering blow to his career, namely when Liverpool youngster Martin Kelly was called up as a last minute replacement for the unfortunate Gary Cahill, ahead of him.
We have seen it before of course, with Wayne Bridge missing out on the 2010 World Cup because he had the audacity to be offended when John Terry decided to copulate with Wayne's former partner. Even if Bridge had been in with a realistic chance (which he was) of making the squad for the World Cup, he wasn't going to get that honour because he had morals and ethics, just two qualities that are missing from Mr. Terry's flawed character.
John Terry, to his credit, gave everything he had out on the pitch during the finals. But why was it that both Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Bridge saw the end of their international careers over what John Terry had done to them? Is there not a sense of injustice there?
And who can forget the ludicrous “I was trying to protect myself.”, statement that Terry made following his assault on Barcelona's Alexis Sanchez?
I am sure The F.A are still waiting on their calls to ban Sanchez from going to the World Cup in Brazil from their Chilean counterparts.
And I am sure the whole Terry/Anton saga has just confused the hell out of Liverpool's Luis Suarez.
