Eagle To Fly The Nest

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has admitted young defender Nathaniel Clyne will leave the coop this summer.
Clyne has risen through the ranks at Selhurst Park from the youth academy to a regular member of the first team, making his debut in a league game in 2008 against Barnsley.
The England under-21 international has regularly been linked with a move away from the Eagles this summer. Various reports suggest Manchester United, Newcastle, Reading and West Ham are the sides interested in signing the 21 year old.
Clyne’s contract with the Championship club has come to an end but Crystal Palace are entitled to compensation due to the defender’s age.
Steve Parish is willing to let Clyne leave this summer but acknowledges the fee is becoming a sticking point. Palace are believed to value Clyne, who has made 137 appearances for the club, at £4 million.
The Eagles chairman said “we need to do a deal with Clyne.”
“There’s a bit of action in the background and we know there is a lot of interest.”
“It’s just about sorting out who it is best to go to and who will put the right money on the table. We’re all working to get an outcome.”
“Clubs don’t want to go down the tribunal route. It is a game of cat and mouse on the fee, we’ve just got to let that play out.”
