      City plot striker overhaul

The saying goes that there are some people who chase the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow but then throw away the gold because the pot is the wrong shape.

When you add infinite wealth and a desire for short term success into the occasion you can picture the problem getting worse and that is what appears to have happened at Manchester City.

After securing their first Premier League title in however many years it was thanks to a set of strikers that scored more than 15 goals last season (Sergio Aguero, Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko each doing this plus the efforts of Carlos Tevez) the problem is clearly not enough striking power so it is certainly time to bring in more striker as the Metro suggests.

The paper has reported that the Etihad club are planning to launch a £80m double swoop for Edinson Cavani and Radomel Falcao over the summer

The plan would involve Tevez, Dzeko, Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz leaving to free up funds for the two strikers who it is thought would each require £40m to tempt them away from Napoli and Atletico Madrid respectively.

Whether the plan to bring in these strikers would be a replacement in the pursuit of Robin van Persie or to supplement his own powers is unclear but the veracity of the rumours themselves is equally dubious so, like all rumours, we shall see how they develop.
