Fergie sets out to punish clubs who have wronged him

There is (most probably) an unwritten rule in football not to get all up in Sir Alex Ferguson’s face otherwise you end up with a horse’s head in your bed or something similar (like a football boot in the face maybe).

Countless players, journalists and managers have felt the burning hot wrath of Fergie’s fury and it may well be that his transfer policy this summer revolves around his fury.

Leaving his January policy of replacing players with themselves (replacing Paul Scholes with Paul Scholes for example), Ferguson will now take key players from the clubs that have wronged him this season.

Having been linked with Nicolas Gaitan of Benfica (who helped knock them out of the Champions League), Oscar de Marcos of Athletic Bilbao (who knocked them out of the Europa League) and Eden Hazard of Lille (who maybe left dog poo in a flaming bag outside Fergie’s front door or something), today’s Daily Mirror links Manchester United with Leighton Baines.

Baines, who’s Everton side recently dented United’s title aspirations, is seen to be the long term replacement to Patrice Evra with Ferguson hoping to pick him up for around £5million with the lure of Champions League football next term.

However, with apparent interest from Bayern Munich in the 26-year-old and three years remaining on his contract, Everton see £15million as a more acceptable price for the England left back.
