Fulham close in on Dutch duo

Martin Jol is aiming to build on a very impressive campaign at Fulham by conducting some early transfer business, reverting back to his native Holland for two bright young stars.

The Sun initially reported the story that Fulham had agreed a joint deal with Eredivisie club Herenveen for unknown duo Luciano Narsingh and Oussama Assaidi who are 21 and 23 respectively.

The fee is believed to be in the region of £10 million for the two, putting pay to Bruce Forsyth’s old adage of getting nothing for a pair and the Sun go on to say the two players are set to agree personal terms on 5 year contracts to move to the edge of the Thames.

Website Sportinglife.com announce that Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that Herenveen technical director Mino Raiola had confirmed that the two players had travelled to London for a tour of Fulham’s facilities, and for talks with the club.

Everton, Newcastle, Russian rich-kids Anzhi Makhachkala and Dutch powerhouses Ajax and PSV Eindhoven were all fought off for the duo, according to the Sun’s story, as Martin Jol’s decent eye for a talented continental bargain seems to be rearing its head once more.

Narsingh has just been announced in the Dutch Euro 2012 squad to a glowing reference from Bert Van Maarwijk, who said he deserved to be in a group of elite players.

Such news has sparked the news, also in the Sun, that Fulham’s current attacking incumbent Clint Dempsey, scorer of 23 goals this term, could be on his way to Arsenal. Fulham have offered the Texan a new deal but it remains to be seen if he will sign.

These are indeed exciting times at the Cottage with Jol moving to build on an impressive top half finish by adding a few young talents to their already decent-looking squad.
