Scholes signs United extension


Midfield maestro, Paul Scholes, who came out of retirement in January, has signed a 1 year contract extension at Manchester United.
His manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, says it will be his last year as a professional footballer according to the guardian.
The 37 year old impressed at the heart of United's midfield in the second half of the season, as the Red Devils were pipped to the league title by City rivals, Manchester City.
Ferguson said of the Salford born, one club man: 'I'm delighted. He knew he had made a mistake [in retiring]. He now realises that next season if he plays 25 games it will be real quality. We know we play him really well. We've had him since a kid. We know how to use him.
'Obviously next season will definitely be Ryan Giggs's and Paul Scholes's last season, I'm sure of that.'
The 2 times Champions League winning manager then went back on himself, as he spoke about Ryan Giggs.
'Although I'm not so sure about Ryan because he defies age. Paul – [it will] probably his last year.
The ginger pocket rocket has had a somewhat incredible career, making 710 appearances for the Old Trafford side scoring 156 goals.
Elsewhere at the Theatre of Dreams, Ben Amos, the reserve 'keeper has signed a 3 year extension keeping him in Western Manchester until 2015.
