Luiz happy to keep critics quiet

The term luck doesn't tend to go down well with footballers, especially when it's aimed at them or their team.

David Luiz isn't any different, as he dismissed talk of his Chelsea side being lucky. After finishing 6th, the Blues won the FA Cup and the Champions League, something Luiz is proud of.

'Our titles have silenced many mouths because people had buried us and had no confidence in our results,' the Brazilian defender said in The People in a story reported by football365.

'Nobody gave us the titles we have won - all our rivals fought 100 per cent. I do not accept that Chelsea was a team with luck because it is not true.

'Chelsea are obliged to fight for the Premier League title in the next campaign. This is our challenge and obligation.'

Luiz also backed Roberto Di Matteo, the Blues caretaker manager who guided them to two trophies, to take the Stamford Bridge hot seat on a permanent basis.

'He demanded us to fight more, show total discipline in our tactics and make much sacrifice.

'We want Di Matteo to continue, but the decision is in the hands of the owner.'

The ball playing centre half made 37 appearances in SW6 last season, scoring 3 goals.
