      Suarez playing it cool

Ever a figure for controversy, it appears that Luis Suarez is bucking the trend by playing down speculation linking him with a move to Spain this summer.

After an up and down season for Liverpool and the Uruguayan himself, in which he was involved in a bitter race row with Patrice Evra, the Reds number 7 has found himself tipped for the Anfield exit door.

The dethroning of 'King Kenny' as manager last week has only served to stoke the flames regarding Suarez' Merseyside departure.

El Classico duo, Real Madrid and Barcelona are thought to be interested in securing the services of the 25 year old, in a story reported by Team Talk.

However, speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the South American playmaker dismissed such rumours: 'Being honest, I have never talked to anyone from Barca or Real Madrid.

'If the rumours are to be believed I would have already played for 20 teams.'

Despite a disappointing season for Liverpool, they did win the Carling Cup and finish runners up in the FA Cup and Suarez insists that heart can be taken from the season.

'Liverpool have had a good season and we got to two cup finals.

'In the Premier League we did not finish as high as expected, but positive things have been taken.'

An 8th place finish, below city rivals Everton who spent significantly less than the Reds, dismayed Kopites but Suarez praised the way he has been treated since arriving in L4 OTH.

'Liverpool is a 10/10 club for the support they give the players. I am very grateful to the club for giving me the opportunity to play in the Premiership.'

Suarez scored 17 goals in all competitions for Liverpool last season, Reds fans will hope there is more to come.
