      Hammers eye Green future

David Gold, the West Ham co owner, is planning to open talks with Robert Green following the Londonors promotion to the Premiership.

Green, who has a place in England's Euro 2012 squad, is much admired at Upton Park and Gold is keen to agree fresh terms, with the 32 year olds deal set to expire next month.

The Irons are thought to be confident in retaining the services of the shot stopper who helped them to play off glory at the expense of Blackpool on Saturday.

In a story broken by Team Talk, Gold told BBC Sports Day: 'One of the first negotiations that will take place will be with Robert Green.

'He is a world-class goalkeeper and his salary would be commensurate with that, but now that we are in the Premier League we can sit down with him. I am confident we can keep Robert.

The former Birmingham co owner also admitted that had West Ham remained in the second tier of English football, they wouldn't of been able to keep hold of Green.

'There was no way we could keep Robert in the Championship in the second year after relegation by paying him his value.'

Green made 42 appearances for the Boleyn Ground outfit last season, and won save of the season award for a save from Kenny Miller on March 4th.
