Premier League club's Lazar target

Using the age old advice of ‘rent-a-coach’ Avram Grant as the defining feature of one’s transfer policy may not be the best idea. However, that hasn’t stopped three Premier League clubs from taking his word about a player as gospel, apparently.
Grant, now coaching Partizan Belgrade on what one imagines is a short-term contract with many zeroes next to the word “Salary” in the paperwork, has sounded out his attacking midfielder Lazar Markovic as a star of the future.
According to the Daily Mail, as a result of Grant’s praise of the 18-year-old, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested in the player who made his debut for Serbia back in February.
Markovic played in 24 league games this season out of a possible 28 in Partizan’s successful defence of their league title (their fourth win in six seasons since the tournament’s inception), winning the club’s player of the year award, according to reliable Wikipedia.
The story concludes by suggesting that Partizan would want at least £16million for the youngster and also with an option to take him back on loan for next season to continue his development.
Not to put a downer on things but the last time a promising young Serbian attacker was signed by a Premier League club, things didn’t go spectacularly well for the player in England.
