    Clubs into grab-a-Grabban

Rotherham’s hopes of holding onto top scorer Lewis Grabban may seem more ambitious now that news has been revealed that the Millers have received two bids for the 24 year old.

Sky Sports have reported that a couple of offers have been tabled for the striker who has netted 21 goals for the mid-table League Two side, both from League One sides who had made unsuccessful offers for Grabban back in January.

One man who did make an offer for Grabban in January, scorer of 21 goals for the season, was then-Crawley manager Steve Evans, now in charge at the Don Valley Stadium and he is fully aware of Grabban’s ability, swooning over his “special talents” after he scored a brace for Rotherham against Morecambe.

Evans has made it known he intends to bat away the interest to keep Grabban at his new club, but a third bid is expected to be lodged from Swindon, according to Sky Sports’ report, after their recent promotion back to League One.

The bid from Crawley in January was understood to be around £100,000, but Evans believes his main striker is deemed to be worth as much as four times that valuation, after netting a further eight times since that rejected bid.

Rotherham will wait until any concrete offers come in before taking any consideration into organising a leaving party for Grabban, and Evans has remained resilient in the face of rumours, saying the money isn’t relevant and that mentioned interest doesn’t mean the player is going to leave.

There is an atypical strong view from Evans on the matter who is determined to keep his striker as he prepares for his new future in Sheffield, but with clubs wanting to Grab-ban the player, things may get a little feisty.
