Modric talks not set in stone

Luka Modric is not nailed on to sign a new contract at White Hart Lane, according to Sky Sports.

The Croatian play maker was subject to Chelsea's overtures in the summer, but after the West London outfit failed to secure his services, Tottenham offered him new and improved terms.

Modric signed a 6 year deal in 2010 that looks set to keep him in North London until 2016, and Spurs are keen to reward him with a further extension.

The Spurs manager, Harry Redknapp, insists that the Modric process is in the hands of his chairman, Daniel Levy.

With Tottenham embroiled in a battle with Newcastle United and Chelsea for fourth place, Modric's future could rest heavily on who triumphs in the battle for Champions League football.

Speaking to The Times, Redknapp, who is hotly tipped for the England job said 'It's up to the chairman.

'We were going to tie him down when Chelsea came in and the chairman was talking about getting him [a new deal], but where it is at I don't know.'
