Hill wants his finger on the Button for a few weeks more

Well, you’re never guess what’s in store for you in terms of a piece of Championship football gossip this sunny/cloudy/rainy lunchtime? Yup, that’s right, a loan deal that’s hoped to be extended into the end of the season. Out of the blue right?!

Anyway, this time around the wheels of fortune (two wheels linked to a list of clubs and a third wheel linked to a massive list of every single professional footballer) have been spun and they have landed on “Barnsley”, “Tottenham Hotspur” and “David Button”. Excuse me a second while I arrange those words into the correct order and do a quick bit of research about the player...

Yup, here we go, Barnsley are hoping to extend the loan of on-loan Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper David Button until the end of the season.

23-year-old Button joined the Oakwell club on the 19th March as an emergency replacement for injured Barnsley no. 1 Luke Steele and has made five appearances for the club in that time, but his deal is due to run out after Saturday’s fixture against Cardiff.

However, Barnsley manager Keith Hill is hopeful he can secure a deal to keep the former England U16, U17, U19 and U20 England goalkeeper at the club for an extra month or so.

Hill told the Sheffield Star; “Luke's definitely out so I'm hopeful we can sign David for longer. As far as I know, they don't want to recall him. David is gaining valuable experience and game-time, so it would be great if could extend his deal."
