Pompey could lose yet another asset

Just when it seems things cannot get any worse for Pompey, the cash-strapped club could lose yet another asset, and that is 18-year old Jed Wallace, with reports from SkySports emerging the player could be set to leave the struggling side.

The Fratton Park outfit have been nothing short of a sinking ship on the south-coast this season after plunging into administration and deep relegation troubles. Losing players has almost become a normality at the club who will more than likely be plying their trade in league 1 next season.

But talk about rubbing sea-salt into the team’s wounds after they scored a dramatic stoppage time equaliser at ST Mary’s to snatch a 2-2 draw  over their bitter rivals Southampton, they were then fined £5,000 for failing to control their players after six Portsmouth players received yellows cards.

But now more bad news which the Pompey faithful have come to expect quite regularly has emerged, with Wallace an acquisition just last august who has yet to even feature for the first side already on the radar of Premier League clubs who are said to be running the rule over the player.

The midfielder who joined Pompey from non-league outfit Lewes on a three-year deal is said to be of interest to both Stoke City and high flyers Newcastle United who if  any decide to pursue their interest would acquire the player with relative ease given Portsmouth’s dire financial situation.
