Rodgers cautious on extended Sigurdsson switch

In other ‘walking-spelling-test-making-loan-deal-permanent’ speculation, we find ourselves gunning it down the M4 (adhering to speed limits, naturally) and parking up outside the Liberty Stadium.
Northern Ireland’s answer to Pep Guardiola (that’s Brendan Rodgers) has been speaking about the prospect of Iceland’s answer to Cesc Fabregas (that’s Gylfi Sigurdsson) making his loan move at Wales’ answer to Barcelona (that’s Swansea) permanent.
Sigurdsson’s impact on Swansea has been similar to that of the Icelandic volcano’s on air travel last year; explosive, wide-reaching and making travellers (of the airplane kind and travelling football fans variety) very angry and upset.
The Icelandic midfielder has picked up five goals and a couple of assists in his nine games for the Swans so far but there have yet to be any talks about which shirt the 22 year-old will be wearing when he fires in goals from 25 yards next season.
Rodgers, who worked with Sigurdsson at Reading, said; “He is still a Hoffenheim player. He has had a wonderful effect on the group and I know he thoroughly enjoys it here but we have been unable to sit down and discuss anything so until that happens then the situation remains the same.”
Rodgers added gushingly; "He is a loan player who is benefiting from playing with a wonderful group of players and we are benefiting from his qualities. We can see he fits perfectly into our style and we complement each other well but we will see what happens between now and the end of the season."
