PSG interest accelerates new Suarez deal

Liverpool would appear to be particularly eager to open new contract talks with controversy magnet, semi-regular goalscorer and occasional world class footballer Luis Suarez in the very near future, despite him only being at the club for little more than one Earth rotation around the Sun.
Suarez, who’s contract runs until 2016 for the time being, has attracted interest from mega-rich Paris-St-Germain and has been linked with a move there in the summer.
Despite only signing some 14 months ago for £22.8 million from Ajax, Liverpool would appear to want to tie Suarez down on a longer deal to ward off the overt interest from the Parisians.
The process should be made a little easier as Suarez has expressed that he is happy at the club and is reportedly keen to put pen to paper as soon as possible. Not that anything is ever easy in the world of football negotiations, of course.
Liverpool’s managing director Ian Ayre told Sky Sports; “He's got a contract until 2016, he has said he wants to stay. I am sure Damien [Comolli, Liverpool’s Director of Football] will be speaking to his agent. Who wouldn't want Luis Suarez? He is absolutely fantastic. He is such a popular member of our team. Luis is a vital and important part of our set-up and long may that continue."
Ayre added; "But they are the things we talk about behind closed doors, and we will further that discussion when it is right and proper.” Thus confirming that when the contract talks commence, they will take place behind closed doors and not, say, on a park bench or in a café or a nightclub.
