Big Sam hopes to keep 'keeper

Sam Allardyce is hoping to keep Robert Green at West Ham United, with the club offering the player a new deal.

The 32 year-old is back in the England squad after his horror show at the last World Cup and has been a success at Upton Park this term, with the Hammers riding high in the second tier.

His current deal is up at the end of the season and Big Sam is ready to offer the stopper an extension-

"We're trying, we are still negotiating like we have been for a long time with a few players," said Allardyce.

"We have not got that to a conclusion yet. Green has been playing on top of his game and has done well all season. Today, he showed he is worthy of his call-up.

"His all-round goalkeeping is very solid, his basics are very good and when we need something a little more, he is always there for us."
