Wales is the place to stay

It’s a lovely place is Wales, full of glistening countryside paved with green through the valleys and a sense of national pride that befits its history of ironworks and coal mining industries.

That’s enough of the Shakespearian style history lesson, but it looks like Wales must have sold itself on Cardiff’s loanee Haris Vuckic a little bit better than that summary, as the 19 year-old midfielder has indicated he does not want to go back to Newcastle just yet.

The Slovenian has been on the fringes of the Newcastle squad this season and made his full Premier League debut after impressing in the reserves, yet he has been sent on loan to Championship club Cardiff on a one month deal to aid his development and holiday-syndrome has kicked in, he just doesn’t want to go back to normality.

He told BBC Sport “If the clubs can get an agreement, that would be great” in the aftermath of scoring his first goal for the club in Tuesday’s 3-1 victory over Peterborough. His enthusiasm glowed in the BBC interview; where he went on to say “I really want to play. I know Newcastle is my first team but if I get the chance to stay at Cardiff that would be great”.

Cardiff boss Malky Mackay will only benefit from Vuckic’s love for the Welsh capital as the Slovenian’s ability in midfield will only aid the promotion push, has he helped the Bluebirds get over a 2 defeat shaped blip in form with Tuesday’s goal.

Another player staying in Wales is Swansea’s Stephen Dobbie, however the choice is not exactly individual like it is Vuckic.

Local media had linked an array of Championship clubs, including Bristol City, Birmingham and Blackpool for the out-of-favour Swans midfielder, but with injuries to Kemy Augestien and Joe Allen, the South Wales Evening Post reported that Rodgers had politely closed the exit door and told Dobbie to forget about leaving the Liberty stadium.

The 29 year old showed his worth at Championship level last season in which his play-off goals saw Swansea over the line at Wembley, but Rodgers has decreed “empathy” with Dobbie’s desire to play football but with him in contract and resources needed towards the end of a busy Premier League season, he told the SWEP that “he has to think about Swansea”, obviously showing his perfectly understandable love for Wales.
