Toffees give goalkeeper something to chew on

Everton look set to throw Britain’s one time most expensive goalkeeper a life line by offering him a short term contract, apparently.

Craig Gordon has been without a club for over 6 months since Sunderland decided to release him into the wild and he has been on the hunt ever since. The Black Cats splashed £9m on the giant back in 2007 but as a result of consecutive injuries the shot-stopper failed to muster even 100 games for the club in his 5 year stint.

Christmas has come early for the 29-year-old as fellow Scot David Moyes has sent him an invitation to join Everton and add a bit of competition to the number 1 spot, something the Yankee doodle Tim Howard has bossed for a number of years. The contract, wrapped in a big, tartan bow, is believed to be a short term deal in order to give Gordon a chance to prove his worth, but also gives the Toffees a ‘get out of jail free’ card if he decides that he fancies getting injured for another few years.

So, will we see the former Hearts keeper get his backside in gear and finally live up to the hype that surrounded him all those years ago, or is it simply a deal to fund his Scotch whiskey and shortbread? I hope it is the former.

      GORDON’S ALIVE!
