    Arsenal look to Barcelona striker

Here is one for you Arsenal fans, your club's attempts to secure some sort of deal for one of Barcelona's forwards appears to be nearing a conclusion as the Spanish side have slapped on a price-tag that they are willing to accept.

Unfortunately the figure we are discussing is neither Lionel Messi or Andres Iniesta, nor is it the third leg of the prestigious tripod Xavi, but the good news for Gooners is that it is not Pedro!

David Villa is an incredible talent and if not for unfortunate injuries who knows what the Spaniard would have achieved in the game, but as he ages closer to retirement his opportunities at Camp Nou narrow, an exit looks imminent.

Arsene Wenger has not attempted to hide his admiration of the goal-gobbler and is determination to get him in an Arsenal shirt may just have paid off. £16m is the price that Barca value Villa at and have issued an invitation for the London club to secure his services for that price, but because he is over the age of 15, Wenger is having second thoughts.

The Frenchman is said to be preferable to a short term deal for the striker, but as his contract quickly nears an end in Spain, Chelsea and Manchester City are also lurking around the 31-year-old.

Come on Arsene, you get what you pay for.
