Is a move to England on the cards for Holtby?

Like the times at school when a pretty new girl joined the class, Lewis Holtby has sparked a rush for his services after announcing he won’t be signing a new contract at Schalke, reports the Mirror.

Liverpool and Arsenal both have long standing interests in the German international and it is thought that Holtby, who has an English father, could fancy a move to the Premier League.

Schalke have had their problems this season and sit in a disappointing 7th in the Budesliga with no win in their last six games. It seems as if Holtby has had enough of this poor form and fancies a move to a more successful club. I’d advise him to steer clear of Anfield if that is the case. The 22-year-old has supported Everton since he was young, so perhaps a move to Goodison could be on the cards.

One potential snag in any potential move to England could be Holtby’s attitude towards the lack of a winter break over here.

“I know how important football is to English fans over the Christmas break, but it must take its toll on the players.” Said Holtby

“For the rest of us it doesn’t make too much sense because when players are tired and playing so regularly you do pick up little niggles and injuries.”

If any English side do manage to allay his fears over festive football they will have a cracking player on their hands.

Holtby is a tenacious midfielder who is quick and very good on the ball; he should be a hit in the Prem.
