Laudrup doubtful over Villa

Swansea boss Michael Laudrup has dismissed suggestions that David Villa is heading to The Liberty Stadium. He was quoted in the Daily Mail as saying “He’s a fantastic player but I don’t think he’ll be coming to Swansea.”
The rumours of Villa heading to Wales seem to have stemmed from Laudrup’s Spanish connections and the fact that he spent a large chunk of his playing days at Barcelona. Laudrup’s knowledge of the Spanish name has already led to him recruiting Michu, Pablo Hernandez, Chico Flores and Jonathan De Guzman from La Liga however now it appears that Villa will not be the next name on that list.
With top scorer, and many peoples tip for signing of the season, Michu sidelined through injury the Swansea boss would certainly be glad of the services of a striker of Villa’s pedigree but it looks as if he’ll now have to find a more realistic alternative.
It is true that Villa has found life tough at Barcelona recently and has been struggling with injury and form, leading to an increasingly marginalised role in Tito Villanova’s table topping side. Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been linked with the 31-year-old and these big name sides seem like much more likely destinations for the big name player than the Swans who were only promoted to the Premier League in 2011.
