Lukaku looking to extend West Brom stay

Without question Romelu Lukaku is enjoying himself at the Hawthorns and ESPN are reporting that the Belgium would like to extend his stay in the West Midlands until the end of next season. Last year was a hugely disappointing one for Lukaku as he played next to no football, something which was difficult to take for a player who had been a regular for Anderlecht for a number of years despite his young age. This bench sitting was made particularly painful given that both Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge were struggling to score a goal between them.

So its no surprise to hear Lukaku talk positively about his Hawthorns experience given that he is actually getting significant game time and in the process his Premier League career looks to be blossoming. He has been a real significant impact on Albion's fine form thus far, contributing six goals and causing defenders all kinds of problems week in week out. Steve Clarke's management of the youngster has also been of benefit, with him consistently rotating his striking options but Lukaku enough significant game time to aid his development.

Lukaku's form at West Brom has reminded us just why he was being tracked by half the clubs in Europe and that Chelsea if they nurture him properly have a real player on their hands. Prior to this season there was a real worry that at Chelsea one of the best young talents around was going to stagnate and not fulfill his potential, so this successful loan spell couldn't have been any more vital.

Whether Albion will get to keep him another year remains to be seen, you can see why Lukaku might want it given that Chelsea are looking to sign more huge money strikers in this upcoming window which would mean the Belgium might again find himself wasting away on the bench or worse again. You would think though that the Blues are likely to want him back given his rapid week by week improvement this term, however they must learn to show their young starlet a little bit of love and give him a chance rather than limiting his options with big money flops if they are to reap the rewards of a player who has the potential to be massive.
