Former Real man heading to Old Trafford?

Ex Real Madrid defender who is now at Benfica may be heading to the Premiership. Ezequiel Garay who has been the rock at the heart of the Portuguese side’s defence is been scouted by Manchester United.

Benfica have slapped a £15 million price tag on their Argentinean rock and it appears that United may be willing to pay that price to ensure they tighten up their shaky and unpredictable defence.

Alex Ferguson sent his scouts on a week’s holiday to Portugal to see Garay play and were impressed with his display in the 3-1 win over Sporting Lisbon and the 2-1 over SC Olhanense.

If Garay was to move to Manchester it would be likely that he would face his former side and manager that sold him in Jose Mourinho after United drew Real Madrid in the next round of the Champions League.

Garay would get the chance to show Mourinho what he is missing after the Special One made the decision to allow Garay to leave the Bernabeu to join Benfica.

Garay would be a welcome addition to United’s defence as Vidic has only just come back from a six month absence and Ferdinand has been hit and miss with injuries and performances and is currently in the last year of his contract.
