Villa and Bolton set for battle over Murray

It isn’t often that the league’s top scorer is available for £1m, unfortunately for Aston Villa that league is the Championship, but still, they are reportedly close to securing Crystal Palace hitman Glenn Murray for a small fee say the Daily Star. At 29, Murray may not have long left to prove himself in the top flight however with 20 goals in just 18 goals so far this season for the Eagles the Scot is English footballs top scorer and could have the tools to succeed in the Premier League.
Murray’s red-hot form has not just attracted Lambert and Villa though, Ex-Palace boss Dougie Freedman is said to be keen on bringing his former star to new club Bolton. Quite why Murray would want to sign for a struggling Bolton side who sit a whole 12 places below his current team I’m not sure. The draw of Freedman would have to be rather strong for Murray to even consider spurning overtures from the top-flight and the very realistic possibility of getting promoted with Palace.
If Murray were to move to Villa it would cast further doubt over the already precarious future of Darren Bent. The £24m man has barely featured under Lambert in recent weeks with the in-form Christian Benteke being favoured as the lone forward. It is unclear where this leaves Bent but if the England man is available I’m sure there will be no shortage of suitors in January for a proven Premier League goalscorer.

Benteke isn't being played as a lone striker!
Very lazy journalism Mr Johnson. One thing you're right about is that it isn’t often that a league’s top scorer is available for £1m. And that's the case here, as Crystal Palace will not be letting Mr Murray go for anything like that in January. At the 'ripe' old age of 29, Glenn Murray has plenty of time to prove himself in the top flight. He will most probably start doing this with Crystal Palace from August 2013. Sorry if that doesn't leave you with much of a story, but you could always make something up about Wilfried Zaha going to Arsenal/Liverpool/Manchester United/Manchester City/Real Madrid/Tottenham etc etc like everyone else does! By the way, Glenn Murray was born in Maryport, Cumbria and is therefore about as close to being a 'Scot' as Christian Benteke!
These reports get dafter and dafter!
Blimey, do people get paid to write this garbage?.... Obviously got his sights set on a career with the Sun newspaper
Err spot the Palace supporters who think half a season does the trick Premiership HAHAHAHAHA NOT HAPPENING FOR YOU!!!!!
