Liverpool still interested in Spanish star

Brendan Rodgers has discovered a way to get his man, despite the player just signing a new deal at the Nou Camp.

It takes a lot to derail an attempt by the Liverpool boss to snatch one of your starlets, not even a contract extension can keep an offer at bay it seems as the gaffer is ready to expose Cristian Tello’s £8m buyout clause to get him to Anfield in January.

A product of the Espanyol youth academy, the attacker is considered to be the perfect addition to the Reds side and would also enhance the Spanish feel that Rodgers has implemented on the club. With Luis Suarez the only real striker they have, apart from an injured Fabio Borini and Andy Carroll who is spending his time on loan to West Ham, Rodgers will be doing everything in his capabilities to add some firepower during the transfer window.

Tello is a player who has regularly been linked with a move to the Premier League and it was well known that Arsene Wenger was keen on capturing the 21-year-old’s signature not so long ago. That was before Arsenal were beaten by Bradford and the whole world came crumbling down for the fans, of course.

Will it be Messi or the Mersey for Cristian? Time will Tello.
