Debuchy to join the Toon French legion?

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is having another look at Mathieu Debuchy according to the Telegraph.  The French right-back has been on Pardew's radar previously.  He tried to bring Debuchy to St James' Park last summer but Lille's asking price was too high.  However Newcastle's indifferent start to the season may have convinced Mike Ashley to dip further into his pockets in order to provide Pardew with the players he needs to push up the Premier League.

The 27-year-old French international has been at Lille since he was 8 but he shouldn't fear heading to Newcastle or Le Newcastle as it's fast becoming.  French is quickly becoming the main language amongst the Toon army as Debuchy, should he move, will be joining a legion of French speakers including Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba, Papiss Cisse, Hatem Ben Arfa and Steven Taylor.  Well maybe not Steven Taylor but wouldn't it be great if he was a secret linguist, a Geordie polyglot?

Newcastle's season has gone off the boil a little recently with only two wins in their last ten Premier League games.  With the added weight of games that the Europa League brings on Pardew's shoulders he will definitely need to add numbers in January.
