Stoke look to ward off potential Shawcross suitors

There can't have been many times that Stoke City have had to fight off interest from Manchester United and Tottenham for one of their players.

However, that's exactly what the Telegraph are suggesting, with reports that Tony Pulis is set to offer Ryan Shawcross a six-year extension to his contract in the hope that it will be enough to fend off interest from the Premier League big guns.

Funny how as soon as Shawcross becomes a member of the England squad, interested parties come crawling out of the woodwork. Woe betide me to give praise to Stoke City, but Shawcross has been performing well for a number of seasons now and really deserved attention a few seasons ago.

Perhaps it could have avoided Aaron Ramsey a broken leg?

      Too far...
