Poyet and Warnock disagree over penalty decision

After the 2-2 draw between Brighton and Leeds on Friday, Gus Poyet was in disbelief as Warnock defended the penalty decision that was given to his Leeds team to ensure they earned a draw.

Poyet believes Luke Varney dived in winning the penalty in the match where as Warnock said the player was pushed over. Poyet labelled it ‘hypocrisy’ that Warnock is saying Varney was pushed as if the boot was on the other foot Warnock may have had a different opinion.

Leeds United twice came from behind and Brighton had a penalty saved in the live match. It seems the frustration felt by Poyet after twice believing his side would win the match was aimed straight at his opposite number.

Neil Warnock on the other hand isn’t going to lose sleep that he is labelled a hypocrite as he understands that Poyet will feel frustrated and emotions will be high, however Warnock continues to back his player and still believes his player was pushed in the box.

Warnock isn’t going to have any hard feelings with Poyet as he has seen it all before and has been involved in many controversial incidents when he has wanted to say his thoughts. In the long run Poyet isn’t going to hold grudges but in the heat of the moment and immediately after disappointment emotions always run high.
